a new job and other moments in february

Have I mentioned before how much I love Instagram?  It seems to be the only way I now can find time to share (or even take!) personal and family photos these days, for which I am really thankful.  And this little 365 project of mine seems to be the only thing motivating me to do even that.  It is also reminding me just how fast these months are flying by- I can’t believe it is already March (although maybe that is because the endless string of snowstorms has tricked my body into thinking it is still the beginning of January… We seemed to be trapped in an icicle-covered version of Groundhog Day.)

So what did February look like?

  • The 2014 Winter Olympics… I probably don’t need to elaborate on this one, I’m sure you watched at least some portion of the Olympics.  Because my husband was away on business for much of the games, the Olympics translated into kiddo and I staying up late on the couch each evening, watching snowboarding and bobsledding and figuring skating, and him often falling asleep on my chest like when he was a baby.  It was so wonderful and definitely worth making a bedtime exception for.
  • Chicago, and a large portion of the country that shouldn’t ever have snow, got more snow.  I know, we are all over it and I won’t talk about it any more… there is enough evidence of the weather in my photos.
  • Valentine’s Day… Valentine’s Day is not something that was ever a big deal in the Tulley household (or something we even recognized as a holiday), but enter one four year old into the picture and his building anticipation for exchanging homemade cards cut out of construction paper with his little buddies, and Valentine’s Day is now a part of our world.
  • I left my job and started a new one.  Really, a lot happened in February but this is what consumed and defined my month.  After grad school + a degree in immunology and a decade in the field of scientific research, I have made a huge shift and left that world behind.  I accepted a new full-time position with Clickin Moms, a wonderful photography community that is responsible for teaching me so much of what I myself know as a photographer.  This was a bittersweet leap for sure, but one that I was excited to take and look forward to sharing more about in the future! Change can be really scary, but sometimes you just know that it is time, and I am thrilled to have be given this fantastic opportunity!

Woohoo! Yay for big changes in Feb! I’m so excited for you. And yes, I am very, very over the snow. So glad you’re managing to keep up w/your 365.
