seagulls and sunshine

Last week brought us weather in the upper 50’s… which, for Chicagoans on the last day of February, is cause for celebration.  We all run outside, wearing the minimal amount of clothing, and soak up as much sun as we can while it lasts. On this glorious day we took a trip to The Field Museum.  If you enter The Field through the east, you cross their beautiful sky-lit atrium, a gorgeous place to take photos.  (Also, a super-fun place to let your mechanical caterpillar roam across the floor:)

Hawaii has felt so far away this winter, but luckily, we know how to make our own rainbows:

Afterwards, we went out onto the north lawn to feed seagulls in the bright sun.  Shooting at noon in full sun is less than desirable- it creates both harsh light and harsh overhead shadows… however, as I have yet to learn how to control the sun, I decided to roll with it.  The wind was strong and the birds were aggressive, a combination this two year old found hilarious.
