what friendship at four looks like

Snow flurries are in the Chicago weather forecast!  So why don’t we take a look at photos of kids running around in… shorts!

While I would like to claim that this is a purposeful attempt to remind you of a warmer time, the truth is, there is a stupid number of photos sitting in my Lightroom catalog, patiently waiting to be edited and to see the light of day.  I have to be honest, working a full time job while also running a small business, and still trying to be a good mom through it all has left me only slightly sane.  I realize, I am far from alone in this boat and that so many of us have a to-do list that far exceeds the number of hours in a day.  So in my feeble attempts to prioritize and shut down all non-essential activities (sound familiar?), I’ve set aside my personal photos/ photo projects and have allowed them to rest for awhile.
On a positive note, I have tasted gulped my fair share of delicious wine at the end of many a long work day lately.  (Yes, there is always a silver lining.)

So let’s wake up this blog from it’s long summer’s nap and take a look back to the sunny days of August!  Four year old boys + piles of dirt is quite literally one of the simplest yet best ways to spend an afternoon.  No need to spend money to go somewhere or buy something to keep them occupied, we just headed on over to our local community gardens and got dirty.

Before you go, take a look back to these same kiddos last fall.  Amazing to see how they, and the gardens around them, have grown in just a year!

Love how hot & sweaty they look! I miss summer! Boys + dirt pile = classic! Doesn’t take much does it? They look like they’re having so much fun 🙂

Totally adorable. Makes me want to grab a shovel and join in on the fun. Great pictures that capture the moment.

I love these! It’s so cool to see how much they have grown and changed from the year before (even in their interactions with each other) Beautiful 🙂
